CC&E
Engineers, Inc. - 1990 to present
Principal Engineer
Consulting engineering services for all aspects of planning,
design, and installation of microwave systems, mobile radio base
station sites, analog data communication systems, and fiber optics
systems, both synchronous (SONET), and asynchronous.
Recent Major Projects
Consulting engineering services for the design and
implementation of a new dispatch communications center and for the
relocation of all existing communications (digital channel banks,
orderwires, phone circuits, and SCADA circuits). Design also
included power distribution, DSX jackfields, DS1 timing, grounding,
seismic racks, VF cross connect system, and the integration of a new
SONET (OC1) fiber optic system.
Consulting engineering services for the design of a fiber
optic system, asynchronous DS3 (expandable to 3 X DS3), timing, DSX
jackfields, DSO channelizing, and VF cross-connects.
Consulting services for a six node OC1 SONET system (and its
upgrade to OC3). Interfaces included DS1 circuits to a DS3
radio system and also DSO circuits to analog and digital systems.
Consulting services for a five node OC1 SONET network
including fiber route and cable design. System included drop
and insert digital multiplex.
PacifiCorp
Electric Operations- Utah Power & Light Co.
Electrical
Engineer - 22 years
Responsible
for managing a multi-year project to upgrade a microwave system to new
standards. Also directed others in the design of microwave
radio, baseband and multiplex equipment, and the associated antenna
systems.
When Utah
Power acquired Lincoln Service and CP National, I was responsible for
the complete integration of those areas into the operating
system. This required the addition of new microwave sites,
conversion of their mobile radio system, and the addition of voice and
data circuits.
Design
responsibility for major interconnection projects between UP&L
and adjoining utilities including Montana Power, Idaho Power, Pacific
Power, and Sierra Pacific Power. These projects required the
design of microwave radio, power line carrier, telemetry, voice and
data, battery and charger, and emergency generator systems.
Designed a
new communications center for Salt Lake City. This facility
was to be the location of all circuits terminating in Salt
Lake. The design provided complete termination of the analog
baseband spectrum and provided for the addition of new multiplex
equipment in an organized and orderly manner. It also
provided for the complete on-line testing of all circuits.
Lockheed

Electrical
Engineer - 1.5 years
Participated
in the system testing of the telemetry system used on the Polaris and
the Poseidon Missiles.
